                        Harwich High Golfers Win College Scholarships

             Harwich, May 22 – The Cranberry Valley Me n’s Golf Association (CVMGA) recently presented its annual golf scholarships awarded to selected members of the Harwich High School Golf Team. The $1,000 scholarships are funded by generous contributions from the members and players at Harwich’s Cranberry Valley Golf Course.

         
At the brief recognition ceremony, Pete r Sawyer, the winner of the 2008 scholarship honoring Tidal Henry, long time CVMGA contributor, was presented with his award    after completion of his first year at Florida Institute of Technology. Ian Doherty, winner of the 2008 Francis (Mac) Rupnow Memorial award, who attends Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, also accepted his $1,000 check.

           The Association’s Scholarship Committee, Chaired by Ed McCarthy, noted that the Association’s members takes
pride in contributing to the success of worthy graduates of the Harwich High School golf team. The Cranberry Valley Me n’s Golf Association was formed decades ago “…to promote good fellowship among members and Harwich citizens, the playing of golf and associated activities …” The Associations membership includes approximately 400 residents and 100 non-residents of Harwich

Harwich High Golfers Win College Scholarships

Harwich, July 1 – At its recent Board of Governors meeting, the Cranberry Valley Men's Golf Association recognized the recipients of its annual golf scholarships awarded to selected members of the Harwich High School Golf Team. The $1,000 scholarships are funded by contribution from the members and players at Cranberry Valley

The 2008 recipient of the Tidal Henry Honorary Scholarship is Peter Sawyer. This award is made in honor of the long time officer and member of the Associations Board. Peter will be attending Florida Institute of Technology

Ian Doherty won the 2008 William Lown Me morial Scholarship. In the fall, Ian plans to attend
Mass. College of Liberal Arts.

At the brief recognition ceremony, Dan Eldredge, the winner of the 2007 scholarship honoring Tidal Henry, was presented with his award after completion of his first year at Methodist  University . Andrew Walkley, winner of the 2007 Francis (Mac) Rupnow Me morial award, who attends Penn State, was unable to attend, but will receive his award at a later date.

The Association’s Scholarship Committee, Chaired by Ed McCarthy, noted that the Association takes pride in contributing to the success of worthy graduates of the Harwich golf team. Dennis Hoye, Harwich Di rector of Golf told the Board of Governors that they have selected truly outstanding young men to receive their scholarships.
